Steps to Nowhere
Do you ever feel like you are walking steps to nowhere? You do all the right things, pray all the right prayers, and yet you don’t seem to make the progress you are capable of. I have been there so many times.
My first thought was, Is God mad at me?
Deep down inside I know that wasn’t the case, but it can be frustrating. Most of us are only seeking the things in life that bring joy to us and others. So, after many years of wondering about my steps, here is what I discovered.
Life isn’t always fair and “sometimes good things happen to bad people” and “bad things happen to good people“. Our world doesn’t always exist the way we would like it and I guess if truth be told, it’s better than the alternative, we could be six-foot underground.
So, no matter how screwy my world is at times I have learned to be grateful. I firmly believe that an attitude of gratitude helps us plow over the feelings of hopelessness. I have memorized one of my favorite scripture verses.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12 NIV
Every time I say that verse, I feel like Popeye after he ate a can of spinach. Here are my words of wisdom to anyone who can relate.
Put everything in the hands of God before it gets so overwhelming that you get angry at God.
He is on our side and has a special plan for us. Even though we might think we are on the steps to nowhere, God is leading us somewhere.
Heavenly Father, I ask you to walk with me today. I will follow you, so I can walk in your steps. You have a plan for me and I am grateful that I am alive and have divine talents, skills, and abilities to share with the world. Thank you again for all you have given me and for the wonderful future that awaits me as I follow your steps. Amen.
