Life is an adventure, sometimes exciting, sometimes scary, but always unexpected. Living life North of 60 was certainly unexpected. You see, North of 60 describes the area north of 60-degrees latitude and for me, this means Alaska. A place of vast beauty and danger, especially for a woman. Yet, I am not alone, in my twenty years of living in the Alaskan wilderness, I have met many other women just like me with stories of adventure, courage, discovery, love, and faith. Their stories, along with some of her own, have inspired me to write two faith-based novels.
Let me explain, “The dream surfaced in me to write a series of fiction books based on the true stories of women in Alaska. Some are stories of rags-to-riches, some tell of danger and narrow escapes, and some share found faith and life transformation. While most of us will never know what it’s like to scare off a bear, hunt for moose, fly a bush plane, or live on a fishing vessel, I hope these stories will inspire other women to trust God in their life’s adventures.”
Each of us has an adventure to live out, life to embrace, and a creator God that wants to be part of our story in a personal way. If these last two years have taught us anything, it is that life is precious because it can change in a moment. Unfortunately, even ‘good’ change can cause us discomfort and even pain because it takes us out of our comfort zone and into new, uncharted territory.
Are you struggling with something new in your life right now? Are you looking for a new direction or focus for your life? Let me encourage you to seek the God of the Bible, that offers direction and purpose as a lamp to our feet and light to our path (Psalm 119:105). “Giving your life to Jesus Christ and inviting God to dwell within you every day is an adventure worth pursuing, I guarantee it.”
