The Sky is Falling

Do you remember the fairy tale, “Chicken Little,” written by Tasha Guenther? It is about Henny Penny, more commonly known as Chicken Little- a chicken who believes the world is ending. Chicken Little runs around and warns the King and the other farm animals that the sky is falling! All because an acorn fell on her head.

I can relate to that. I have had acorns fall on my head in the form of divorce, abandonment, termination, and failures of all types. When those things happened, I thought the sky was falling on me! I attribute those feelings of impending doom or immaturity on not having a personal relationship with God.

So, what happened to change my perspective? I set out on a search to find out the truth, and I discovered it was my wild imagination that took me to places that never existed. In other words, I created my own fairy tale.

The truth is that we live in a fallen world that causes each of us pain and suffering. In times of desperation, we have two choices. One is to run around and tell all your friends that the sky is falling. The other is to run into the arms of your Heavenly Father. God’s loving, non-judgmental arms are wide open 24/7. God’s word says that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.

When I walked into the arms of my Heavenly Father, the feelings of doom and gloom disappeared. I began nurturing a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus.

It was not long before I realized that the sky was not falling. Instead, the sky opened and began filling me with wisdom, peace, and understanding. I would like to share three truths that gave me the freedom to live an abundant life of peace, purpose, and passion.

What does having faith in Jesus mean?

Having faith in Jesus means relying completely on Him- trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. If I worry, I am not trusting Jesus. I know I am in the palm of His hand and that He will ALWAYS guide me and protect me. Being in the hands of God allows me to give Him all my doubt, fear, and unbelief.

What does the Bible say about living life as if today is the last?

“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” James 4:14 NLT. There is something about knowing that I am not promised a tomorrow that causes me to live with a sense of urgency. I intentionally love the unlovable, help the poor, speak encouragement, and pray for the oppressed. The more I give of Jesus, the more I am filled with unspeakable joy.

What does the Bible say about Joy?

Joy comes from God. More specifically, joy comes from the Holy Spirit.

You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 1:6 NIV. Knowing that He gave His life to give me eternal life, gives me an unspeakable joy and a peace that surpasses all comprehension.

This is the greatest time to be a Christian. When you allow God’s love and power to pour into you, He will remove the hell out of your life. You will gain a new perspective on your life, and you will discover your God given destiny!

So let me encourage you to walk into the arms of your Heavenly Father. Freely give Him all your fears, troubles, worries, and anxieties. Pray each day for guidance and every morning the life of which you are dreaming. “It’s all about Jesus!”
